For my 25th birthday, I was surprised with an invitation to join folk artist Ellis Paul on stage for a performance of his song “3,000 Miles.” It wasn’t the first time I’d had the opportunity to play with Ellis, but the surprise , along with the incredibly kind words he shared before we played, made this performance especially meaningful to me.
This performance of “Quanto è bella” was part of my senior recital at Bridgewater State University. Classical voice was a major part of my musical training throughout college, and this recital represented the culmination of that work before completing my degree.
“Quanto è bella” from L’elisir d’amore - Gaetano Donizetti
"Boston" - Dan Rice
This original song tells a story about Boston through several different perspectives, all connected by the idea that “where lost and found are one in the same.” During the performance, I taught the audience the refrain and invited them to sing along, turning the song into a shared moment between performer and audience.
